Born and raised in San Diego, Ricky grew up on a steady diet of beach days and California burritos. He developed a passion for photography in his teenage years and decided to follow that passion, attending Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. After graduating, he settled in Los Angeles where he continued to hone his craft and had the chance to assist and learn from photographers including Alexi Lubomirski, Jacob Sutton, Hedi Slimane, and Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.

In 2015, he accepted an offer to move to New York City and work alongside Daymion Mardel. After 5 years of invaluable experience as Daymion’s first assistant, Ricky went on to launch his own career as a photographer full time. He continues to live and work in New York, but jumps at any opportunity to return home to CA for some beachside burritos.
